Libucan Dacu Island Preaching!

Background

Libucan Dacu is an island barangay, part of a municipality in the Philippines called Tarangnan in the province of Samar or Western Samar (to specify from northern and eastern parts of Samar) in Eastern Visayas which is part of the Visayas group of islands. This place is considered as rural with an estimated population of almost 900 residents in year 2007.

From House to House

After our midweek study, one of the sister in our congregation serving as full-time minister, suggested that we should join the preaching on Libucan Island. We approach one of our elder and as expected he agreed to the plan. He even suggested that we should use his motorized boat as long as we limit the number of passengers.

We left from Burabod, one of the coastal barangay of the Sta. Margarita, Municipality, at 8:00 in the morning bound to Libucan Island. We are a total of eighteen (18) passengers, a safe capacity for the boat. The scheduled preaching will start at 9:00 o'clock and since we did not yet receive the assigned territory we should reach there as sooner as possible.

We arrived at a place called Sugod, and agreed to wait there, since the brothers will be arriving there soon from Oeste (another barangay). Our overseer managed as to have a partner, in imitation of the preaching work as done by first century christians. After a few hi and hello's with our local brothers, we are off to go.

We trekked the concrete path going to our assigned territory, Libucan Dacu. The people there are friendly and accommodating, but many of the householders are quiet busy. Mostly they are mending their fishing nets, repairing and assembling a small boat, or preparing to go to the sea.

After the preaching work at Libucan Dacu, we arrived here at this beach and pose for a souvenir before lunch.

After our lunch, it is now time to go back home. We are quiet satisfied because we have placed several literature, tracks, magazines and books with interested ones. We are happy that we joined the preaching  work at this island.

As we bound for home, we are filled with immeasurable feeling of joy and contentment knowing that we have demonstrated the sign of the last days, that is the preaching of the good news of the kingdom in all of the inhabited earth (Mat.24:14).
